Does anyone out there use a slow cooker?  If so you want to try this recipe.  If you are like me and you don’t cook, don’t worry this recipe is so simple anyone can do it.  During one of our many food events here at work, someone make this and it was the first thing gone.  I have made it several times for my family and also for a couple parties and it was a big hit.

The recipe for Italian Beef is:

Use a sirloin tip, rump roast or any roast that is on sale.

5 lb roast or more (depending on how many you are feeding)

For every 5lbs of beef, you are suppose to use one 16 ounce jar of Giardiniera (I usually use 2 jars even if it is 5 lbs. 1 hot and 1 mild)

Cut the roast in 4 big pieces and put the meat and Giardiniera (and the oil in the jar) in the crock pot.

It takes around 5 or 6 hours to be able to shred the meat.

For a party I serve it on cocktail rye bread – the flavors really compliment each other

For family gathereings I usually boil some green peppers on the side and then put them in the crock on the last 1/2 hour before serving just so they get the flavor of the Giardiniera and then serve on the tradtional rolls with the meat.

For more recipe ideas and so you don’t spend hours in the kitchen, use The Taste of Home Cookbooks for recipes to fill up your slow cooker and have great meals waiting for you.  The book includes mouth-watering recipes like Peppered Meatballs, Smoked Sausage Soup, Teriyaki Sandwiches, Slow Cooker Enchiladas, Hot Caramel Apples and many more.  Does anyone have a recipe they would like to share?  Happy Eating!
