1 Half Gallon Vanilla Ice Cream

Red Food Coloring

Blue Food Coloring

Whipped Cream

Step 1: Start off by softening the ice cream. If it’s straight from the freezer, let it sit out until it’s a softer texture.

Step 2: Take 2 bowls and evenly distribute the ice cream into each one.

Step 3: Put a few drops of red food coloring into one of the bowls. Whisk it until it’s completely blended and is an even softer consistency.

Step 4: Whisk the other bowl of ice cream until soft.

Step 5: Place desired amount of whipped cream in another bowl. Place in a few drops of blue food coloring and mix in.

Step 6: Distribute into clear mason jars or glasses with the red ice cream at the bottom, the vanilla on top, and the blue whipped cream to top it all off. Sprinkle on patriotic sprinkles (optional) and you’re done!

This 4th Of July dessert recipe is sure to get anyone in the patriotic spirit! With a sweet cake, a decadent cheesecake frosting, and some refreshing fruit to top it all off, this dessert is packed with flavor.

While strawberries tend to work better for the cake’s decorations, feel free to swap them for raspberries for a different take on this recipe.

Recipe Makes 24 Servings

Ingredients

Cake

1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter

1 Cup Sugar

1/2 Cup Honey

2 Large Eggs

2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract

3/4 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt

1 1/4 Cup White Whole Wheat Flour

1 Cup All-Purpose Flour

1 Teaspoon Baking Soda

1/2 Teaspoon Salt

3/4 Cup Milk

Frosting & Decor

12 Ounces Cream Cheese

6 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter

1 1/3 Cup Powdered Sugar

1/4 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt

1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extact

1 Cup Blueberries

2-3 Cups Strawberries

Red Frosting (Optional)

Directions

Step 1: Before you begin, preheat your oven to 325 degrees. Prep a 17 x 17 inch sheet pan with grease and flour.

Step 2: Next, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to mix the butter for about 1 minute on medium speed. It should be a smooth consistency. Then, pour in the sugar and continue to mix until fully blended.

Step 3: Add in the honey, eggs, and vanilla extract. Make sure to continuously scrape off the sides of the bowl as you’re mixing.

Step 4: Using medium to high speed, gradually mix in the yogurt until it’s thoroughly mixed in.

Step 5: In a separate bowl, mix up your dry mixture: whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.

Step 6: Pour about one-third of your dry mixture into the butter mixture and mix together on low for only 5 seconds. Continue this process with the rest of your dry mixture and the rest of the milk until combined and smooth.

Step 7: Pour and evenly spread out the batter in your pan. Bake for 18-22 minutes. Note: you’ll know it’s done when it’s slightly brown on the top. Set it aside to cool.

Step 8: While your cake is cooling, you can make your frosting.

Step 9: Using a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed, mix together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, yogurt, and vanilla. Mixture should be smooth.

Step 10: It’s time to assemble your cake. Evenly spread the frosting on the top of the cake. Then, place your blueberries and strawberries on top to resemble the American flag. Optionally, you can add red frosting around the edges of the cake using a piping bag.

Blueberries:

8 Cups Blueberries

2/3 Cup Sugar

1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice

1/4 Cup All-Purpose Flour

2 Tablespoons Salted Butter (Cut Into Pieces)

Dough:

2 1/2 Cups All-Purpose Flour

2 1/2 Tablespoons Sugar

1 Tablespoon Baking Powder

1/2 Teaspoon Salt

1 1/2 Sticks Salted Butter (Cut Into Pieces)

3/4 Cup Milk

1 Large Egg

Vanilla Ice Cream (Optional)

Directions

Step 1: Start by preheating the oven to 425 degrees.

Step 2: First you’ll want to prep your blueberries. Gently mix the blueberries with the sugar, lemon juice, and flour. Set aside.

Step 3: Now it’s time to make the dough. Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until combined. Then, mix in the butter until combined. Note: a pastry blender can help you fully mix the butter in.

Step 4: In another bowl, whisk up the milk and egg.

Step 5: Pour the milk and egg mixture into the dough mixture and stir together. Note: you don’t want to over mix. The dough is supposed to be a little lumpy.

Step 6: Put your blueberries inside of a 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Distribute butter pieces on top of them.

Step 7: Tear apart pieces of the dough and distribute the pieces on top of the blueberries. Sprinkle some sugar on top.

Step 8: Place tinfoil on top and bake for 20 minutes.

Step 9: Remove the tinfoil and bake for an additional 25 minutes.

Step 10: Serve with vanilla ice cream for the ultimate treat!

Recipe Makes 40 Cookies

Ingredients

4 Cups All-Purpose Flour

2 Teaspoons Baking Powder

1/2 Teaspoon Salt

1 1/3 Cup Unsalted Butter

1 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar

2 Eggs

1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Red Food Coloring

Blue Food Coloring

Red, White, And Blue Sprinkles

Directions

Step 1: Start by mixing together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set this bowl aside for now.

Step 2: Using a standing mixer or hand mixer on medium to high speed, beat the butter. When it’s smooth, pour in the sugar and continue to beat on high for about 2 minutes.

Step 3: Gradually beat in the eggs and vanilla extract.

Step 4: Then, gradually beat in the flour mixture until combined.

Step 5: Take your dough out of the bowl and evenly divide it into three portions.

Step 6: Place one portion of the dough back into the bowl and mix together with red food coloring until color is fully distributed. Set aside and clean out the bowl.

Step 6: Place the second portion of dough in the bowl and mix together with blue food coloring until combined. Set aside.

Step 7: Roll out each portion of dough into 11 x 11 inch squares. Once you have your three squares, place them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Step 8: After your dough has chilled, layer the squares on top of each other and gently press together.

Step 9: Place a sheet of wax paper underneath the layered dough and use it to roll the dough into a log shape. Wrap the log tightly in the wax paper and place in the fridge for 2 hours.

Step 10: Once your dough has been cooling for the appropriate time, preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Step 11: Empty out your sprinkles on a large plate and carefully roll your dough in them, covering the sides.

Step 12: Cut your roll into 1/8 inch slices and place them on an non-greased baking sheet about 2 inches apart.

Step 13: Bake for 8-10 minutes. Let cool before serving!

Ingredients

3 Ounces Semisweet Chocolate (Chopped)

3 Ounces White Chocolate (Chopped)

1 Pound Strawberries

Red Gel Icing

Step 1: Empty the semisweet chocolates and white chocolates into 2 separate bowls.

Step 2: Microwave each bowl at half power for 2 minutes, stirring halfway. Heat until fully melted.

Step 3: Line a pan with wax paper.

Step 4: Take each strawberry and dip and twist it into the chocolate. Alternate between the semisweet chocolate and the white chocolate for each strawberry. Place each covered strawberry on top of the wax paper.

Step 5: While the chocolate is still fresh on the strawberry, cover some of the strawberries with sprinkles.

Step 6: Let the chocolate set for about 30 minutes.

Step 7: Decorate the strawberries with gel icing – you can get creative with this step and do any pattern you want!

Step 8: Once the gel icing dries, eat and enjoy!

This recipe explains how to make these for individual cups; however, you can choose to make this as one big trifle as well.

1 Box Red Velvet Cake Mix

1 Cup Sugar’

1 8-ounce Cool Whip

1 8-ounce Cream Cheese

Step 1: Bake the red velvet cake according to the directions on the box. Set aside to cool.

Step 2: Using a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed, blend together the cool whip, cream cheese, and sugar. Mix until thoroughly combined.

Step 3: Cut your red velvet cake into small pieces. The size will depend on the size of your serving glasses. Measure accordingly. Note: you can also choose to cut the cake into small cubes to make it easier.

Step 4: Place a layer of cake into the bottom of each serving glass. Then, top them each with a layer of the cream cheese mixture. Place another cake layer on top, followed by another layer of cream cheese mixture.

Step 5: Top each of them off with whipped cream and optionally, fresh berries.

3.3 Ounce Package Instant White Chocolate Jell-O Pudding

Red Food Coloring

Blue Food Coloring

Popsicle Mold

5 Popsicle Sticks

Directions

Step 1: Make the pudding mixture according the the directions on the package.

Step 2: Evenly separate the pudding into 3 different portions; place each portion in their own bowls.

Step 3: Mix red food coloring into one of the bowls and blue food coloring into another bowl. Leave the third bowl as is.

Step 4: Place each pudding portion into three different piping bags.

Step 5: Evenly distribute the pudding into the Popsicle molds. Start by piping the blue into the bottom of each mold, followed by the white, and topped off with the red.

Step 6: Place Popsicle sticks into each mold and carefully put in the freezer for 2-3 hours minimum.

Step 7: When you’re ready to take them out, run the entire mold under hot water so the pudding pops can easily be removed.
